Some good deals (thrift store and otherwise)

I stopped at the drug stores (and one food store which is right with them), as well as a thrift store and Staples today. I won't be getting to the regular food stores this week, so this will be my main shopping for the week.

Anyway, check out what I got at the thrift store:

  • 2 sets of 5 candle lamp shades for my dining room chandelier - $1.50/set
  • 3 bike helmets for my sister's kids - $0.50 each
  • 2 packs of party bags (to use in crafts) - $0.25
  • a complete woodburning kit - $0.25
  • a turntable to make my previous Pampered Chef tool turnabout complete - $0.25
  • not pictured: a large frame to use for a name frame gift - $0.25
  • not pictured: $3.00 in clothes for me, my mom and my sister-in-law ($0.25 each today!)

I was pretty happy! Not only that, but they also had free hamburger and hot dog rolls, so I picked up a few of those, too.

Then I stopped at the drugstores and Staples:

Rite Aid
  • Pert Plus for Men (3-in-1) - $1.30 profit after Single Check Rebate and Try Me Free rebate
  • 2 bottles Vive Pro conditioner for my sister-in-law - $1.29 each after sale, rebate and $5/25 coupon applied
  • 6 bottles Vive Pro shampoo for my sister-in-law - $1.29 each after sale, rebate and $5/25 coupon applied
  • Citre Shine shampoo - FREE after Single Check Rebate and coupon

Walgreens
  • 1 box paper clips - $0.19
  • 6 packs mechanical pencils (5/pack) - $0.19 each

Staples
  • High Sierra backpack (reg. $99.99) - $3.00 (what I paid in tax) after half-price sale and Staples Rewards payback
  • Staples slimline battery-operated pencil sharpener - FREE after rebate
  • Handy Lines retractable highlighters - FREE after rebate
  • Zebra Cadoozles mechanical pencils - FREE after rebate
  • Zebra Sarasa gel pens - FREE after rebate
  • 2 packs Expo dry erase markers - $1.00 each

Food Lion (not pictured)
  • 2 packs (32 ozs each) shredded mozzarella cheese - $4.00 each
  • 2 Land O Lakes seasonings (sour cream and onion, white cheddar) - $0.35 each

I was very pleased with the deals I got today! My sister-in-law was thrilled when I called to ask if she needed more shampoo. Vive Pro is her favorite, and she usually pays full price for it. Not only that, but I was able to pull out a bunch of things from my stockpile that she was needing to buy anyway. She's having a hard time financially right now, and it felt great to be able to help her out so much!

The backpack is for my teenaged nephew. He needed a BIG, durable backpack, and this should fill the bill. :) I'm sharing a bunch of the school supplies with his family, too, since there are three of them in school. Like I said, it feels great to be able to help out!

My total out of pocket (including the clothes and groceries not pictured) was $22.03. Not bad!
