Great deals at Staples and Michaels!

We went to visit an elderly lady from church tonight (Thursday). We were able to go a little early and pick up a few deals at Staples on the way:

Everything pictured was free after Staples Rewards except the 100 CD-R ($14.98) and the 4 GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive ($14.99). I should have printed the $1 coupons from my e-mail, but I went hoping they would have them in the regular circular. I should have known better, but oh well! I just didn't get those items since they weren't essential.

Then my good friend asked me to stop by Michaels and see if they still had a certain ME Christmas ornament she's had her eye on. She passed it up when we were in there last week and then thought of the perfect place to use it when she went home. Soooo ... I stopped in at Michaels. But it wasn't at the first one, so when we went right by another one later in the evening, my husband graciously allowed me to stop in and check there, too. Boy, am I glad we did! Check out our haul from Michaels for right around $25 total:

I doubt you notice it, but I got the Space Toob (far right in the corner) at the first stop for $1.99. The packaging was damaged (looked like it had been melted a little), so it was marked way down. Everything was still inside and unhurt, so I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. My son will be thrilled with this, and I was able to hide it from him to use for a gift. :)

I also picked up the three kids' stamp sets in the back for $1.25 each (reg. $5). My kids love to stamp and craft, and I like to give them their own supplies so they leave mine alone a little more often. (It also allows them to create a little more often since I'm a bit picky about some of my supplies.)

Most of the other little doo-dads were $0.25 each - Cars stuff, chipboard albums, mini gel pen packs. The gift card tins were $0.38 each.

Now for the real "wow" moment ...

They still had two MS Punch Around the Page sets, and they were marked down to $5 each!!! I can see that the snowflake one might be considered seasonal (not necessarily confined to Christmas), but the other one looks like an all-year set to me.

They had special pricing tags on all the Martha Stewart items, so I almost passed these up. All the other tags had only minor markdowns on them. But one of the employees was standing right there looking for something. When I helped her find it, she commented that you couldn't beat the price for 80% off. I asked her if all the MS items were 80% off, and she said yes. I specifically asked about these punch sets, and she said they were, too. It didn't take me very long to grab them!

I just noticed that I didn't put the candy in the picture. They had some of my favorite candy on clearance, so I picked up four bags of it, too. (I'm not going to eat them all in one sitting - I promise!) :)

So I owe a big "thank you" to my friend for asking about the ME ornament. Sorry I didn't find that ornament, but thanks for the nudge to go!
