Frame Ornaments on Clearance!

I've had these ornaments for about two weeks now, and I keep meaning to post about them. If you have a Dollar General in your area, you might want to check and see what Christmas items they have left, since I noticed last week that almost everything was marked down to $0.25 each.

I don't go into Dollar General a lot, but I happened to be in one and turned a corner to see that their Christmas items were all 75% off (at the time). Since I love a good clearance, I did a quick browse ... and came up with these frame ornaments:

They don't look especially Christmasy, so they're perfect for any time of year!

Can't you just envision something for Valentine's Day in this one?

But my real plan for the majority of what I got is a gift for my mother-in-law. She has eleven children (and would have had more if she could). She loves to display pictures of her kids, so I like to incorporate that into as many of her gifts as possible. This would be the perfect Christmas tree decoration for her - all eleven ornaments! So I need to start collecting pictures of my brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Yes, I found more than eleven frames. At $0.25 each, I bought all they had ... which was fifteen or so. I'd love to hear any ideas you might have for the remaining ornaments! I'm sure they would be awesome glued onto an old-timey craft project.

I like to make ornaments of places we have visited that year. Sometimes I will take a pic and use part of that, sometimes I will buy a cheap postcard to use. Either way, its much cheaper and more personal than the Christmas ornaments sold in souvenir shops.

Was just in Dollar General a few minutes ago and now all of the Christmas stuff is a dime a piece. Even better deal! I stocked up on great treats for my kids at church!

I LOVE the idea of picture ornaments for the tree! Any more ideas for these?
